The quote on the picture is "hosa ciguru haLe bEru kUDiralu mara sogasu" from D V Gundappa's (DVG's) "manku timmana kagga".

It maybe translated as a tree is beautiful when it has young shoots and old roots - meaning modern thought and ancient values.

This basavan paada (bahunia purpurea) tree is right in front of my front door.

A Thing Beauty

An old building on Kamaraj Street (near Commercial Street), Bengaluru. Photographed and painted at home.

The double windows in the highlighted face on the first floor are actually modeled in plaster - false windows!

The building itself is unlikely to be a joy forever?
